After India

Lately I've been thinking about my future and what I want to do and I think India is a big deciding factor. When I come back from this experience, I'm going to have a different view of the world which will probably change what I want to do. I'm currently enrolled at SLCC fashion institute but it feels a little superficial and selfish, it's all about looks and I feel like I'm not helping anyone but myself. Plus I feel it just keeps repeating itself. When I get to India first off I don't think I'm going to want to leave and secondly I feel like when I get there I'll just want to drop everything I'm doing in the states, live in India, and roller skate. We'll see what happens... To be continued.

Indian @ SLCC

Today I attended an event at SLCC Redwood campus that reminded me of why I love India so much. Professor Aarti Nakra spoke about arranged marriage. There are a lot of myths about arranged marriage that aren't true. First off couples with arranged marriages meet and get to know each other before they get married. They can call off the engagement if they don't get along. And there was another myth but I forgot it. :) But what you hear about arranged marriages isn't all bad. Aarti showed clips from the film "Monsoon Wedding" to illustrate her points. It looked like a good movie and now I really want to see it! I love my Indian/Bollywood cinema. :) After Professor Aarti spoke there was a q & a. In the background a sideshow was showing famous Indian people. I had no idea Norah Jones is the daughter of Ravi Shankar. And Nigel Barker, the photographer from America's Next Top Model, is Indian too! Now if only I was Indian. That'd be perfect. At the end of the event Indian food was served! Delicious samosas with mint sauce and this rice ball things. I love me some mint sauce. I think I'll make some Indian food for dinner. I do love it so... :)
